“The Burnished Leaf” is meant to evoke: the act of turning a page and reading artfully; the way that leaves (metallic and otherwise) are often integrated into accessories and apparel; and the tea leaf itself. I like the association of “burnished” with something that has been polished until it gleams, and the way the phrase brings to mind colorful autumn leaves.
A dedicated reader and writer, I grew up beachside in California, dreaming of snowflakes and crisp autumns. Almost a decade away taught me just how vivid and fiery fall can be—and how much I missed the Pacific. I returned to the Bay Area in the fall of 2014, and haven’t (hardly) looked back.
